There are a lot of community grants out there from the local business that you and your friends and family may work at! The search term you seem to want for this is community, like business name and community, or community grants, community outreach, community giving, community involvement etc.

Funding for profit businesses

Smaller Project based

These opportunities require a nonprofit to submit a project with a very specific scope, IE your project! Most are based around some public need like education, environment, community, health care, etc. How it works is you write it up your project and HeatSync signs on for 15% for operational expenses, with the rest administered to you based on your proposal.

  • Best Buy 501c3 required, Serve a diverse population in local or regional communities, Build social, academic, leadership and/or life skills in early adolescents (primarily ages 13-18), Show positive results against a demonstrated community need, Reach at-risk children in working families, Avg $3-5K, $10K Max
  • Pepsi Refresh Everything Social Media based funding, Starts up again April 4th "How can you use art to energize a community?"
  • Wells Fargo - Create and sustain affordable housing

Promote economic development, Provide job training and workforce development, Revitalize and stabilize communities

  • Arizona Commission for the Arts - Provides assistance to individual artists working in a variety of disciplines through Artist Research and Development Grants and Professional Development Grants for Individuals. Also a fastrack grants for certain times of the year.

Medium Project Based

Big Stuff

This is the stuff that the grantors might find too big for our britches until we get some big name partners, or some smaller grants under our belt. However if you think you've got the credentials and the partners, lets try it! These opportunities require a nonprofit to submit a project with a very specific scope and measurable outcomes over sometimes years. Most are based around some public need like education, environment, community, health care, etc. How it works is you write it up your project and HeatSync signs on for 15% for operational expenses, with the rest administered to you based on your proposal.

For Heatsync

Matching (including United Way)

  • Verizon MIP 1k matching donation
  • Intel United Way matching
  • Smart(we have an employee) up to $2500/yr
  • Raytheon matches donations from employees
  • Wells Fargo - Wells Fargo will match employee donations up to $5000.

Employer pays us for volunteerism

  • Verizon VIP - 50 hours volunteered = $750 for organization
  • Intel Involved - 10/hr up to 10k after first 20
  • Avnet Dollars for Doers Volunteer Program - 20 hours before Sept 30 $200, 40 hours is $400
  • Wells Fargo -We can receive $1000 for hours volunteered

Grants for general operating expenses

In Kind Donations

  • Techsoup - Looks like a good collection of software hardware donations for nonprofits - We don't show up in database yet.
  • Good360 is "growing the world’s largest online product donation marketplace, where product donations from America’s top brands and retailers become goods for the greater good."--From cookware to software!
  • Home Depot offers limited $25 vouchers at the store for nonprofits-seems to differ per store, but you may have to submit written request
